Police sources say that no one was hurt when the bomb went off in a busy part of the wealthy suburb of Mezze.
Damascus has been shaken by an explosion from a car bomb. This hasn't happened very often in recent years, since the Syrian capital has been mostly spared from the violence that happens in other parts of the country.

The official Syrian news agency, SANA, said that police sources said no one was hurt in the blast in the wealthy suburb of Mezze on Sunday night.
Initial reports said that loud explosions could be heard in Mezze and that plumes of smoke could be seen rising from the area around the military airport there.
Police sources say that an explosive device in a civilian vehicle went off, starting a fire that spread to two other vehicles that were parked nearby.
Witnesses said the explosion happened near a busy roundabout and a popular restaurant.
No one has come forward to say they were behind the attack, and it's not clear if it was meant to hurt a specific person.
Mezze is where many top government and security officials live, and it is also where the UN and a number of embassies have their offices.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says that on February 27, a car bomb went off in the countryside of Damascus, killing a Syrian officer who worked on "developing weapons."
